(For Immediate Release Monday, December 13, 2004) Toronto, Ontario - Toronto-based filmmakers Markham Street Films have earned a Gemini Award in the category of Best History Documentary Program, for 'RADIO REVOLUTION: The Rise & Fall of The Big 8'. This marks the first Gemini Award for Markham Street Films. The award was presented on night one of the 19th Annual Gemini Awards, Saturday, December 12, 2004.

RADIO REVOLUTION: The Rise and Fall of The Big 8 was produced by Markham Street Films Inc. in association with History Television Canada with the support of Telefilm Canada, The Rogers Documentary Fund and the Canadian Television Fund.
Produced by Judy Holm, written and directed by Michael McNamara and edited by Roderick Deogrades, RADIO REVOLUTION investigates the international social, political and musical impact of the Windsor radio station CKLW during the 1960s and 70s. The 72-minute documentary, recounts this broadcasting phenomenon as it became the most powerful force in the music industry. Through a combination of exclusive personal anecdotes from CKLW alumni, memorabilia and recordings, rare never-before-seen film and photographs of CKLW in it’s heyday and vintage film footage of both Detroit and Windsor, RADIO REVOLUTION sheds new insights into this unique story of communication and community. The RADIO REVOLUTION production team included Sarah Jane Flynn as well as Anna Betel and Kelly Jenkins.
RADIO REVOLUTION had its world television premiere on Canada’s History Television on April 7th, 2004. The film also has also been included in a number of International film festivals, including South By Southwest (SXSW). A DVD of RADIO REVOLUTION, with special extra scenes and features will be released soon.
