(For Immediate Release Wednesday, December 15, 2004) Toronto, Ontario - Toronto-based filmmakers Markham Street Films have begun production on STACKED LIKE ME: Walk a Mile in My Double-D's, a documentary that examines the experiences of ‘well-endowed’ women. STACKED LIKE ME is the companion film to the previously released FLATLY STACKED, a film that investigates the world of women who are flat-chested. STACKED LIKE ME will be broadcast on Discovery Health Canada, Life Network and Canal Vie in late Fall, 2005.
STACKED LIKE ME and FLATLY STACKED are part of a series of documentaries produced by Markham Street Films that explore the human body; in addition to these films, Markham Street Films is currently in production on PENIS DEMENTIA: The Search for the Perfect Penis, the ‘male’ component to this series.
“Each of these documentaries explores issues surrounding the human body in a humorous, yet thought-provoking way. In the same way that FLATLY STACKED is a celebration of women who have body shapes that are outside what is considered ‘normal’, STACKED LIKE ME will tell the stories of yet another marginalized group of women,” says Judy Holm, partner, Markham Street Films.
STACKED LIKE ME will feature poignant observations by women who have struggled with their over-endowment; some have sought breast reductions, others continue to suffer with the stigma and discomfort that often accompanies such an ample bust line. Among the subjects, STACKED LIKE ME will chronicle Suzy, a 40-year old who, after years of deliberation, has decided to undergo a breast reduction. But STACKED LIKE ME will also tell the stories of women who have undergone breast augmentation for fun and profit and those who have learned how to “utilize” their bountiful breasts.
In addition to interview and archival material, STACKED LIKE ME will feature animated sequences by Anne Marie Fleming, whose animation was also featured in FLATLY STACKED.
